Texas Technology Resource Center

The Texas Technology Resource Center first opened in January 1996 at McBeth Recreation Center in space donated by the City of Austin. In January 2003, the resource center moved a few miles from the scenic Bear Creek Offices in Manchaca to the Meredith Building in Southwest Austin. In August 2007, we moved again to the Walnut Creek Business Center in Northeast Austin.

At the Texas Technology Resource Center we offer a wide variety of assistive technology training and consultation services on a sliding scale. In fact, there are no pre-requisites to service and many services are free. Regardless of a family’s ability to pay, no one is turned away.

The Resource Center is a previewing center. Hardware and software products can be demonstrated and tried at the office but not checked out or taken home on loan. We do not sell or distribute any software, augmentative communication devices or other items.

The Center’s resources include:

  • Software Preview: preview various academic and communication software
  • Augmentative Communication Device Trials: try out different levels of augmentative communication devices
  • Information Assistance: review catalogs of products from the leading vendors and manufacturers of assistive technology
  • Consultation Services and Referrals: receive consultation services from a nationally certified RESNA Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP)

We believe that through the use of assistive technology we can optimize opportunities for individual growth and development. In fact, there are specialized technologies to meet the needs created by any handicapping condition. Many clients of the Texas Technology Resource Center have found that without these specialized tools, many activities at home, at school and in the workplace are out of reach. With these specialized tools however, individuals with disabilities can share in the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction we all get from a job well done.

Our office is barrier-free. We invite you to contact us to set up an appointment.
